Maria Wasti, born on August 14, 1980, is a prominent Pakistani film and television actress as well as a host. She currently serves as the host of the game show "Croron Mein Khel" on the Pakistani television channel BOL Entertainment.

Biography: 

Early Years: Maria Wasti was born in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, and spent her formative years there before relocating to Pakistan with her family. While her parents aspired for her to become a doctor, Maria's heart was set on a career in the entertainment industry. During her early years, the primary television network in Pakistan was the government-owned Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV). It wasn't until the 1990s that Network Television Marketing (NTM), the country's first privately owned channel, introduced content specifically tailored for the younger generation, sparking Maria Wasti's interest in acting.

First Teleplay:

 In the mid-1990s, Bakhtiar Ahmed, the program manager of PTV Lahore Centre, approached Maria to be part of a play titled "Sarah Aur Ammara," alongside the film actress Resham. The teleplay focused on the experiences of two sisters navigating the challenges of arranged marriages. This marked the beginning of Maria's acting career, and she has since appeared in over 50 serials and numerous plays.

Acting as a Career: 

Maria Wasti's initial foray into acting was driven by her passion for art. However, her parents later encouraged her to pursue acting as a profession. Following her debut, Maria began receiving roles in various plays produced in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad for PTV. Initially met with skepticism, she eventually won over audiences with her talent and dedication.

Maria holds her work in plays like "Bano Qudsia" and "Kallo" as some of her most cherished performances. She has also portrayed impactful roles, such as a victim in "Baadlon Par Basera," who is coerced into an international marriage over the phone, only to discover that the man is much older than his picture portrayed.

Maria Wasti is known for taking on unglamorous roles that tackle sensitive issues related to women in Pakistan. She has portrayed the lives of notable women like Salma Murad and Bilquis Edhi. Beyond her acting career, Maria is a vocal advocate for women's rights, addressing issues such as harassment, gender equality, and prejudice.
