Mere Apne presents a compelling storyline revolving around the practice of exchange marriages (Watta-Satta) within a family and the resulting intricate dynamics that strain familial relationships. Omer, an educated and well-mannered young man, finds himself drawn to his cousin Neha. However, Neha's father, Mehmood Sahab, consents to this proposal only on the condition that Omer's sister, Ramsha, marries his irresponsible son, Hamza. In a selfless act of love for her brother, Ramsha sacrifices her own happiness and agrees to the alliance.

Ali Abbas embodies the character of Omer, an intelligent and diligent son of Iqbal Sahab, who earnestly desires to marry Neha. Hajra Yameen skillfully portrays Neha, a kind and family-oriented daughter of Mehmood Sahab. Omer grapples with the challenge of maintaining a delicate balance between the two families, while Neha struggles with the adjustments required in her new life. Usama Khan takes on the role of Hamza, an easily influenced and ambitious son of Mehmood Sahab, who desires to marry Ramsha.
